HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We were able to donate 10 more quilts this month, thanks to you wonderful ladies who come and sew on community quilt day! (We have now donated over 60 quilts to those in need!) It Takes A Village-Okotoks was thrilled to receive them.  This organization's mission is to help Foothills families facing hardships, with free essential baby supplies in the first year of their baby's life.
Also, we have purchased some new pantos for the quilt room, and hope you enjoy them!

Just a Friendly Reminder!

Please call your trainer at least a day ahead of when you are booked so she is prepared to accommodate you.  (Book for the whole day...please do not specify a time...do that when you contact your trainer.) The trainer is not necessarily available every day of her week, but will try her best to arrange someone for you.
Also, please be sure that you have booked your day on the BIDE A WEE calendar, not your own personal calendar.  If you are not checked on the Bide A Wee calendar (a little drop down on the box) when you 'create event', it will not show up to anyone else on the blog calendar, so your trainer will not see it.

Actually, Arrived!

Judging by the looks of the calendar, that coming BUSY quilting season mentioned in the last post (just 2 days ago!) has ARRIVED! You'll likely need to book ahead as there seem to be many quilt tops out there wanting to experience beautification on our lovely long arm! We'll do our best to accommodate you, but please plan ahead and get in touch with the trainer to confirm her availability.  If she can't accommodate you on your scheduled day, she'll then have time to find another to take her place.

Quilting Season Approaching!

The quilt machine turned out many beautiful quilts over the summer, but the most serious season for quilting is just about here! You might want to book your days in advance, then call the trainer listed for that week and ...ENJOY!

SOME SUMMER QUILTING?

The quilt machine has been busy over the winter and spring...turning out many beautiful quilts! It is now okay to book 2 consecutive days for your project if needed.  As in the past, we ask that you book no more than that to start off a month.  Once mid month arrives and there is still space, you can go ahead and book another spot.  That said, if you check the calendar one morning and that day is open, feel free to call the trainer listed for the week and request to go in at the last minute, regardless of how many days you have used.  We just want to always give everyone the chance to book time, yet don't want it to sit idle if you have something to do!
There will for sure be lots of time available during the summer, but we hope you can do SOME summer quilting!

Where We Got Our Name!

What a treat to have Marr Draper, a member of the original Bide A Wee club in attendance at our quilt show!  We adopted our name for our community association from them! They, too, made quilts!  They also did other handiwork, gardened, and enjoyed one another's company!

QUILT SHOW A HUGE SUCCESS!

THANK YOU, ladies!  Thank you for sharing your quilts! And thanks to those who entered our quilt challenge...the quilts are marvelous! The judging was SOOO close, but congratulations to Nonavee for winning a free year's long arm membership!

And so great to have Marr Draper attend...she was a member of the original
Bide A Wee group in Hill Spring...the group from whom we adopted our name!

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER

Hi ladies, just a reminder about the bobbin case - please remove the thread when you're finished and leave the case back in the machine. Thank you!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy 2015!
Just a few announcements to make:
The challenge quilts are now to be quilted and finished...people like to display their projects finished, so we decided to have everyone quilt and bind their quilts before we name the winner!  If you would like to participate, we have supplies for several quilts at the quilting room. If you are worried about the quilting, no worries, a trainer will help!
If you have a large, detailed or particulary time consuming quilting project you want to do, you can now book 2 days back to back.  Just for a single project, please, not several quilts.
Next community sewing day will be Feb 9.  We have new fabrics to use and will be making disappearing 4 patch quilts...these are very simple, great for beginners, fun for more advanced, and extremely beautiful...they look complicated but are absolutely not!  9:00 am at the community center.
