BIDE A WEE QUILT CHALLENGE!

No need to post a time when you book your day, ladies! Once you book, you have the machine for that day...we don't want to rush anyone, so we only book one person per day. (Besides, not everyone has their google calendar set to our time zone, so that in itself could cause a lot of confusion!) All we need is your name and she's all yours - for the WHOLE day!

Oily Quilt Machines Last Longer!

Hey, all, the machine has sat a bit this summer, as we figured it would, but just a reminder: if the machine has sat for several days between use, we need to go in the night before using it and oil carefully, as opposed to just doing it the morning of use, as we usually do.  If we keep our machine well oiled, it will last forever, so we were told!

OH, SO GENTLE WITH THE BOBBIN, PLEASE!

This is REALLY IMPORTANT, ladies!  
Please train yourselves.  When removing the bobbin from the case (when it still has thread on it), it is imperative that you do not put any stress on the thread guide and/or the tension spring.  If you just yank the bobbin out, the thread will pull and the spring will bend and have to be replaced.  Carefully 'follow' the thread out of the thread guide with the bobbin, please.  If you have not been shown how to do this, please ask a trainer.

LOVING THIS MACHINE!

We know many of you have had the pleasure of trying out the machine, and 'isn't she beautiful'?!  It is so nice to see everyone enjoying our gorgeous facility.  
Thank you to all who have been coming out to our community sewing day on the 2nd Monday of each month.  We will be delivering 10 completed charity quilts to a Senior's home at the end of the month, and have many more quilt tops ready to be quilted. Please call a trainer (listed at the beginning of each week on the calendar) if you would like to come in and quilt one or two or more of these. Our next community sewing day will be held in October, and then every month thereafter.
We have previously asked you to book only one day at the beginning of the month and then another if days are available after the 15th, just to ensure that everyone gets a chance.  But if you open up the blog and see that today or tomorrow is open and you would like to go in, it is fine for you to book it.  We want to have the machine being well used! Please just call your trainer to be sure it is, in fact, open (someone else may have just called her and not put it on the calendar as of yet) and you are welcome to go in.  Again, please put in on the calendar so others see it is unavailable that day, AND call the trainer.

BOOKING ON CALENDAR

Once you have given Lori your email and are signed up to make changes to the calendar, you click on the Google calendar icon on bottom right of calendar to go into the google calendar.  (Must be signed in first...in the top right corner of this blog). THEN you must be sure you are using the BIDE A WEE calendar.  Look on the left hand side once you are in to the calendar.  (Also,  easier to view if you go into the MONTH view.). So, on the left hand side, be sure you select the BIDE A WEE calendar.  THEN, you can touch the day you want to book, put your name in, and touch 'create event'.  
As a reminder, please only book one day (Monday through Saturday) before the 15th of the month, to give everyone a chance, and after the 15th you can book another. Then, call the trainer listed at the first of the week you are booked into to arrange a time with her for your day (e.g. T-NAME).  ENJOY!

BOOK A DAY!

It's time!  You can now book a day of your own to come use the quilting machine!  If you have given Lori your email address and been added to the above google calendar, you can book yourself in.  Click on the google calendar button on the bottom right to get to the calendar.  Please book only 1 day initially, so everyone gets a chance. If, on the 15th of the month, there are available days still, you may book another.  Just go to the 'month' view, click on the day you want, type your name in the pop-up and click on 'create event'.  (before you can do any of this, you will need to sign in with your google account - 'sign in' is in the top right corner of this page). Call the trainer listed at the beginning of the week you are booked into to arrange the time you can meet at the quilt room.  

Note: on community quilting days (2nd Monday of the month) we will all be using the machine to do the charity quilts throughout the day, so that's not the best day to book time.
We are so grateful to the Ag Society and to the Village Council for their tremendous support in helping us have this beautiful room and machine.  Please say 'thank you' to any of them you see!

COMMUNITY MEETING SET! Yahoo!

Okay, all interested ladies, we have a date set to hold our community meeting and get organized so we can all book and use the machine.  So sorry about the wait, but it was certainly out of our hands.  A few of you have been able to sneak in and try it, but we want everyone to have the chance to drive that gorgeous machine!  Please attend on APRIL 8th at the community center at 7:00 pm.  Please send your email address to lsmerrill@gmail.com if you want to be added onto our calendar, where you will be able to book your own quilting time, beginning after the April 8th meeting.

TIME FOR TRAINING!

Hello, all! It's almost time to begin booking your training for the machine! We have many charity quilts ready to learn on and hope you will all come and try it out! We are confidant every one of you will have a positive experience! Please contact one of us (Connie, Kelly, Lori, Maureen or Susan) if you would like to come and (with our help) quilt one of these quilts. 
If you are wanting to be able to book time for yourself, on the calendar above, in the near future, you need to be registered on the site for the google calendar. So, send your email address to Lori - lsmerrill@gmail.com - and we will get you set up and ready to go!

IT'S HERE!

OUR BEAUTIFUL MACHINE IS HERE AND UP AND RUNNING!  HOWEVER, THE ROOM ISN'T!  THE CARPET WAS DEFECTIVE, SO WE ARE WAITING FOR NEW TO ARRIVE AND BE INSTALLED.  WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE READY FOR YOU TO BOOK YOUR QUILT DAY!
